Tim Kohut
PRESIDENT
Tim Kohut, AIA, has more than 25 years of experience in affordable housing design, contributing to more than 3,000 high-performance multifamily units across Southern California. As a licensed architect and certified energy professional (CEA, HERS Rater, BPI Certified Energy Analyst), Tim blends architectural expertise with energy modeling to deliver cost-effective, high-performance and energy-efficient solutions.
Tim’s portfolio includes groundbreaking projects such as Hart Village, the first affordable housing project in Southern California to install photovoltaic systems and Casa Dominguez, the first multifamily project in the region to achieve LEED for Homes Platinum certification. His leadership also guided Cedar Springs, the first project to install gray water systems for both irrigation and indoor water reuse.
Tim’s experience allows him to offer customers innovative, sustainable designs that reduce energy consumption, improve building performance and enhance resident comfort. He has guided projects to Zero-Net Energy and Zero Net Carbon standards and developed accessibility standards for affordable housing. Tim teaches at Cal Poly Pomona and holds an MArch and MA in Urban Planning from UCLA.
Macallan Mitchell
FUEL SWITCH PROJECT MANAGER
Macallan Mitchell, Energy Services Analyst Coordinator at National CORE, has four years of experience in energy efficiency and sustainable housing. He specializes in developing energy-saving strategies for affordable housing projects, ensuring low-income families have access to cost-effective, eco-friendly living spaces.
Macallan’s expertise includes conducting energy audits, researching high-efficiency equipment and recommending cost-effective improvements to reduce energy consumption and costs. Since joining National CORE, he has successfully coordinated with contractors, incentive agencies and municipalities to secure funding for energy-efficient housing initiatives and manages multiple decarbonization projects annually.
Passionate about sustainability and social equity, Macallan is dedicated to promoting green building practices and advocating for policies that support affordable, energy-efficient housing solutions. Macallan also holds a degree in liberal arts and sciences from Quest University of Canada.
Alexia Orozco Sevilla
BUILDING SUSTAINABILITY TECHNICIAN
Alexia Orozco Sevilla is a senior at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree with a minor in regenerative studies. Growing up in San Diego, California, Alexia developed a passion for sustainable building practices, driven by her awareness of the climate crisis.
She has gained valuable experience through internships at Gensler San Diego and the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, and studied abroad in Japan, collaborating with students from Kyoto Seika University. In 2024, Alexia joined COREvolution, eager to continue learning and contributing to projects that benefit the community.
Alexia has been responsible for coordinating LEED for Homes on developments such as Greenbrier Village in Oceanside, Las Dahlias in East Los Angeles and Santa Angelina in Placentia. She also performs energy analysis on projects in the schematic design phase, including East Valley Parkway, Coast Villas and Arrowhead Grove PH4, focusing on reducing energy loads. Alexia is committed to ensuring affordable multifamily housing aligns with the AIA 2030 Commitment, prioritizing renewable energy as a key factor in design development for future projects.
